Psychos United is designed to encourage the support and creation of charities in your community. You can follow @psychosunited on twitter to post your charitable ideas to show others how easy and fun it can be to get involved and make a difference in your community. All you have to do is identify a need, and try to fill it. It is a rewarding experience to say the least. In the summer of 2009 my neighbors dog became very sick with parvo. It was during discussions with the vet that I realized there were no low cost vaccination clinics in my area. Given the current economic instability and the fact there are many people struggling to make ends meet in my area, I knew that pet health care would probably be the first to suffer. I wanted to make a difference. I spoke to my dogs vet who offered to donate her services then I spoke with the local Humane Society who said raise the money and we will support you. So I hit the fundraising trail! It wasn't easy at first and some people declined to give which is understandable, but then I decided to think outside the box. An event was in order! I am a fan of the arts and I thought wouldn't it be great if we could put on a play to raise money for the clinic. So I spoke with the local high school drama teacher and he said yes! The players donated all of the proceeds from their production of The Ugly Duckling to Rocky's Clinic. The clinic became a success in November 2009 and has vaccinated many pets from low income families. I am no one special. But I helped to create something special and you can too. This is Rocky.
